Alverta wants to remind everyone to get a list to her of any new iris you purchased this year. This helps her keep the sale records files updated with pictures.

NOTICE FROM THE TREASURER ADDRESSED TO ALL ACTIVITY CHAIRPERSONS:

I reported at the meeting that the sale was down about $400. The sale this season was actually down $573, which means the club may be required to tighten all of the club activities spending again in 2005, depending upon how much is spent between now and November 15th.

Minutes of the Missoula Iris Society Meeting, Saturday, September 11, 2004

The meeting was called to order by President Jim Sadler at 7:45 p.m. at the home of Sandy Greene.
Minutes -
The minutes from the July meeting were approved as printed in the newsletter mailed and e-mailed to members.

Treasurers Report -
Treasurers report which appeared in the September newsletter also was approved as printed. Anyone wishing to review the details may refer to the September 2004 newsletter. Following is a summary:
Checking account as of July 31, 2004:
Ending balance: $171.29

OLD BUSINESS

Fort Garden Report -
Work still to be finished include leveling, replanting perennials, installing edging, haul and spread gravel, installation of new sod, clean labels, replant new iris. The #7 & #1 beds still need keepers. Garden is looking good.

Help is needing with the heavy job of hauling gravel; see Zona for help with the edging.

Rhizome Sale Report - by Swede Gustafson

   Receipts from Sale Day, deposited on Aug 4th:                   $2,847.00 (included $350 cash set-up funds withdrawn from savings)
       Grab bag sales from Farmers Market:                             $ 233.00
       Other grab bag sales                                                     $      5.00
       Total receipts from grab bag sales                                  $3,085.00
   All funds deposited in the savings account as part of the funds considered in the 2005 budget.
   Receipts were down $400 from 2003. Thanks to Billie and Zona for selling grab bags at the Farmers Market.

NEW BUSINESS

Nominating Committee -
Elinor Utech accepted the position of Chair for the nominations committee. There are no other members on the committee at this point.

25th Anniversary Committee -
Ann Violette and Jim Sadler will co-chair this committee and report on plans at the October meeting. Some suggestions include writing our history of the Fort Garden to current, including who has been involved. A historical booklet or a scrapbook perhaps, to eventually be donated to the Montana Historical Society for maintenance. Send ideas to Jim and Ann.

Symposium Ballots -
Ann reported the results of our votes for iris growing well in our area. The results of those iris receiving 5 votes or better will be published in the October newsletter. The top vote getter was Laced Cotton.

Student Judges -
Student Judges will be receiving the booklets next month to keep training records.

Presidential Rhizome -
Pete Addeo won the rhizome for September, 2004. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Carol Addeo, Secretary
