Fort Gardens Report - Billie Gray reports that the Fort
Gardens are at rest. No hard frost yet, but annuals will be
removed after the hard frost. The Spuria bed is done. Plants
at the base of the arbor are planted. Thank you to everyone who
helped. There is some soil left in a pile across the road under
the tree; it is free to pick up, but do not plant iris in it.
Pete also thanked the 11 or 12 members who helped at the
September work party. It was a good turnout and a lot was
accomplished.
Sale card file: Alverta only has two lists of members
iris. She needs lists of iris from everyone.
NEW MEMBERS ATTENDED: Welcome back to Pat Redler, who
re-joined after a long absence.
NEW BUSINESS
AIS Library - Alverta reminded us that AIS has a library
and they want copies of our newsletters. Information is in the
October AIS Bulletin. Carol will mail a copy of our historical
booklet to the library.
Web Site - Pete announced that there is now a section on
our web site for an introduction to prospective new members.
Some members did not receive the e mailed newsletter. Pete will
check on that.
RVP - Ann Violette's term as the Regional Vice President
for Region 11 is about to expire. She sent an e mail requesting
that we support Jayme Adams of Idaho as the next RVP. A motion
was presented by Zona Lindemann, seconded by Linda Sadler and
passed that we support Jayme Adams as the next Region 11 Vice
President. Carol will sent a notice of support to Ann Violette
by e mail.
Card File Research - Alverta mentioned that Lauri Swanson
has offered to go online in search of iris pictures/photographs
for our card file. Alverta requested we purchase the color ink
cartridge and a ream of paper for her. Pete offered to get the
cartridge at a wholesale price if someone will tell him the
printer name and number. A motion was made by Ron Dunn,
seconded by Linda Sadler and passed to approve this purchase.

Auditing Committee - The audit committee was set as Bob
Symes, Alverta Symes, and Zona Lindemann; the audit is to take
place in December prior to the January meeting.
Falls and Standards - We had a lot of fun with the
newsletter naming contest. Fred Frey came prepared with a board
and a lot of suggestions. Some great names were suggested,
including Rhizome Rose, Rhizonian, The Iris News, From the Eye
of the Iris. The final choice by a process of voting
elimination was Falls and Standards.
Mentor a new member - A discussion on the absence of many
new members. Anyone who encouraged someone to join should
contact them and invite them to attend the meetings. Mentor
them and let them know what fun they are missing.

November. Alverta will put the date and location in the next
newsletter.
