- Here is the May Newsletter. We
are striving to make all the meetings as interesting as possible for
everyone and be fun and informative as well. Each month we will have
a different program that will discuss items of interest to all of
us. If you would like to volunteer your expertise in something that
you know about, please contact Jim Sadler and we will arrange for
you to host one of the meetings for your presentation.

PLACE:
Home of Charles Hiigel & Jeff White. Directions
to their home is shown below. Anyone wanting to carpool should
call Billie Gray, 543-3480 to confirm. Since it is a full hour
drive to their home in Victor, carpool people should meet at
K-Mart parking lot at 5:00 p.m. The potluck supper will include
homemade pizza baked in their special pizza oven. Yummmm.
Everone should bring dishes of salads, appetizers or desserts to
accompany the pizza dinner. Dinner begins about 6:30 p.m.
- PROGRAM:
The program will be the second annual median
show which will be used as practice and training to show members
how to enter, stage and present, their exhibits. Entries for
the show will be accepted beginning at at 6:00 p.m. The show
will conclude at 9:00 p.m. The theme is "You scream, we all
scream, for ice cream". For information regarding the show call
either Gary Clark 728-7633 or James Sadler, 728-4743.

*DreamCatcher is the last house on Blueberry Hill Road (the road
actually dead-ends at the house).

- Fort Gardens Work Party:
We hope everyone can chip in and help. Billie Gray has called
for the following work parties: Sunday May 7, Sunday June 4 and
Sunday June 11th beginning at 1:00 p.m. If you cannot attend
those times, please feel free to wander out to the Fort Gardens
and do whatever needs doing.
There are not too many weeds at this point, but some clipping
and edging work is need. Weeds will be popping up every day, as
we all know.
June Iris Show: Alverta Symes will be head judge for the
June 10th show at Southgate Mall
Pest Alert Hot Line: Billie Gray announced a Pest Alert
phone line of 258-3820 provided by the Extension Service.
Information is available on which pests are currently being seen
in the Missoula valley and which outbreaks are expected.
- New Member packets: New member packets are now available for
everyone who joined last year. Members who joined in
2005 please come to
the next meeting so you can pick the packet up. The packet
will include great tips on growing iris, information on club
activities, a membership list and guess what! A 20% coupon on a
purchase at Marchie's Nursery.
Membership lists were mailed with the last newsletter.
If anyone did not receive a membership list, please call Carol
Addeo at 251-5833.
Garden Presentation: Ron Dunn announced everyone is
welcome to attend a general garden presentation at the Missoula
Senior Citizen Center on Friday, May 12 at 1:00 p.m. The
presentation is by Billie Gray and Beverly Gutman of Marchie's
Nursery. Come for lunch at noon beforehand.

Median Show. Program will show us how to stage and groom iris
for the show.

Iris Society Meeting, Saturday, April 1, 2006
The meeting was called to order by President Pete Addeo at 7:35
p.m. at the home of Billie Gray.
OLD BUSINESS
Minutes - The minutes from the March meeting were approved as
they appeared in the April newsletter .
Treasurers Report was accepted as presented in the April
newsletter which is hereby printed as part of the official
Minutes.

May 6th meeting - Because the May meeting is being held
in Victor at the home of Charles Hiigel and Jeff White, a map or

Median Show in May - Theme of the median show on May 6th
is "You scream, we all scream, for Ice Cream". Jim Sadler
passed out printed entry information. One correction is on item
4 under General Show Rules, all entries will be received
beginning at 6:00 p.m. on May 6th at the home of Hiigel and
White. This will be a non-competitive training show on how to
groom and how to enter iris. Jim will write a brief article for
the newsletter on the basics. Jim also suggested we carpool,
perhaps meeting at K-Mart of Walmart parking lots at 5:00 p.m.
It takes nearly one hour to drive to their home in Victor.
June Show - Theme of the show on June 10th at Southgate
Mall is Glory in the Garden. Alverta Symes will be head judge
for that show
25th Anniversary Celebration of Fort Gardens - Ann
reported that Paul Black and Tom Johnson will both be coming for
our weekend celebration on June 17, 2006.

Judges Training - A judges training session will be held
on Sunday June 18th with Paul Black. Ann will set up the time
and location.
25th Dinner - Billie reported on a bid by the Golden
Corral to cater our dinner at the Fort Gardens. The dinner will
include two meat entrees, potatoes, two vegetables, two salads,
drinks and dessert. They will set up the food buffet style,
which can include turkey, ham, roast beef, chicken or prime
rib. The plates and silverware will be borrowed from RoseMary
Baier. Tables, chairs, tent and podium are being rented. Dinner
cost is $25 per person.
NEW BUSINESS
Senior Citizen Garden Presentation - Ron Dunn announced
that everyone was welcome to come to the Senior Citizen Center
for lunch on Friday, May 12th and for a. general gardening
presentation by Billie Gray and Bev Gutman of Marchies which
begins at 1:00 p.m.
President's Absence - Carol Addeo announced that Pete and
Carol will be out of town for the May meeting. Zona offered to
take the minutes for that meeting. Vice President Jim Sadler
will lead the brief meeting.
Presidential Rhizome - Won by Faye Pedersen.
The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m. and was followed by a short
program. Elinor Utech talked about the sale cards and their
importance to the annual rhizome sale.
