General show rules
- Exhibition
privileges are open to all with out charge.
- Entry tags will be
provided for all exhibitors for all entries.
- Entries will be
received on the day of the show from 7:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
Artistic arrangements will be accepted from 7:00 a.m. to l0:45 a.m.
Late entries will not be eligible for judging or awards, but can be
used for display purposes only.
- Horticultural
Judging will begin at l0:00 a.m. and Artistic Judging will begin at
11:00 a.m.
- Ribbons and/or
awards will be given only if warranted. Only Blue Ribbon Winners
scoring 95 points or higher will be considered for Special Awards
and for Best Specimen.
- Entries are to be
removed after 8:00 p.m. the evening of the show by the exhibitor or
they will be disposed of as directed by the Show Chair.
- The Missoula Iris
Society (MIS) rules allow judges to enter exhibits in the show as
long as they do not judge their own exhibit.
- The Missoula Iris
Society is not responsible for any loss or damage and all
Exhibitors expressly waive any loss or damage and will not hold the
Society responsible for any damage of any kind.
- Official rules and
regulations of the American Iris Society apply and cannot be
violated.

- HORTICULTURE RULES
- All entries must
be grown, staged and placed in person in the proper section by the
exhibitor. MIS will provide containers.
- All staging must
be done in the space allowed by the Society.
- The show consists
of four divisions: Horticulture Open, Horticulture Youth l8 and
under, Horticulture Novice, Seedlings, Youth exhibitors may enter
exhibits in the Youth Horticulture division or the Youth division
but not both.
- A Novice is one
who has won 6 blue ribbons or less, Open is one who has won 7 or
more.
- Every attempt will
be made to identify the registered name of the entry but the proper
identification is the responsibility of the Exhibitor together with
the proper labeling of the entry. Unnamed Iris will be placed in
section “O”.
- Being a Cultivar
Show, exhibitors may enter only one specimen per named variety, but
may enter as many section and varieties as desired.
- Only AIS
registered varieties of Specie Iris will be eligible for Best
Specimen of the Show.
- Sections or groups
for bulbous irises, collections, and English boxes are eligible to
receive award ribbons, special section awards and section rosettes.
Award ribbons are included in the tally for Silver and Bronze
Medal/Certificates although these entries are not eligible for the
“Best Specimen of Show” award.
- The Section
Certificates and Rosettes requires at least three (3) exhibitors and
at least five (5) varieties/cultivars in each Section.
- Show Metals will
not be awarded until after the show when the Show Report and
Application for Medals has been completed and submitted to AIS
Exhibitions Chairman.

bottom with the correct Division, Section. Group/Class and variety
where applicable. Failure could lead to the disqualification of the
exhibit.

- DIVISION V ARTISTIC DESIGN
- THEME ‘EARTH, WIND AND
FIRE’
-
- “Earth, Wind and Fire”. It is
difficult to look back on the 70’s and 80’s Soul music scene without
looking at the influence of ”Earth, Wind and Fire” a group
revolutionary in its amalgamation of soul, jazz and African music
into an attractive universal sound. The titles for the Artistic
Design Classes are names of some of their albums.

- Artistic Rules:
-
1.
All designs must contain
iris blooms as the dominant bloom.
-
2.
No artificial plant
material is allowed.
- No spraying of live plant material
is allowed. Treated plant material is allowed and is defined as
dried plant material whose appearance has been altered, but is still
recognizable as plant material. This includes glycerinzing,
painting or altering by any method.
-
3.
Plant material does not
have to be grown by the Designer.
-
4.
The use of any part(s) of
plants on the state conservation list is strictly prohibited.
-
5.
Designs may be free
standing or may be staged against a background supplied by the
exhibitor. The exhibit may be no wider than 36 inches and no deeper
than l5 inches. There is no height restriction. Drapes are
optional.
-
6.
Accessories are allowed in
all designs except as indicated.
-
7.
Only one entry per class
per exhibitor.
-
8.
Decorative wood an/or
dried plant material may be used unless prohibited by the
classification.
-
9.
Judging in the Artistic
Design Division will be done by Accredited American Iris Society
Judges, or National Garden Club, accredited judges .
-
10.
Due care will be taken of
all entries. The Missoula Iris Society cannot be held responsible
for loss or damage. Any entry not removed at the end of the show
shall be disposed of as directed by the Show Chair.

11.
Entries will be received
on the cay of the show from 7:00A.M. to l0:45 A.M. Late entries
will not be eligible for judging or any award, but can be placed for
display purposes only.

each class in each Designers qualification level as warranted in

knowledge concerning any aspect of the culture of iris. Plant
material need not have been grown by the exhibitor.
